3 Months

Well, little man has had quite an eventful month!
-At 3 months (13 weeks) you weigh 15 pounds!

-You went on your first plane ride
-That plane ride took you to the BEACH in Florida
-You loved the heated pool, but not so much the unheated pool. Mommy put your toes in and you would squeal!
-You slept in your rock and play under the umbrella on the beach, and mommy took you into the water. You didn't really like it when the waves came to close
-While we were on vacation you started sleeping through the night. You would go to bed about ten and wake up around 6 to eat then back to sleep for a couple more hours.

-You went to your first Margaritaville while we were in Forida. You're definitely a future little parrot head!
-We have started going to Kindermusic class with Grayson and you seem to love it! You look around as you listen to the music, and mommy bounces you, tickles you, and claps your hands. There was one song where we were suppose to walk around and sway with you and that put you right to sleep!
-We also went to story time at the library! You love to listen to stories and sing and dance so that was perfect for you!
-You went to your first of Daddy's many softball games! He won- just for you!
-You have been grabbing your hanging toys every time we lay you on your playmat! You grab onto them and bring your feet up to your belly! It's the cutest thing!

-You can sit up in your bumbo, although we don't put you in there for long
-You have started drooling Lots! You get to wear all your cute bibs now!
-You finally found your thumb! You've been trying to suck your thumb for a while now, but you usually just lick it.

-You are wearing 6 month clothes already!
-You slept until 9 am for the first time on June 6th! Mommy woke up a little freaked out (and a little sore!), but you were just snoozing away until I tried to leave the room- you didn't like that! Your normal routine now days is to take a nap around 4-5ish for about an hour, fall asleep for bedtime about 10, sleep until 7 or 8, wake up to eat, and then you go back to sleep until about 9:30. You aren't that big on napping. I think you take that evening nap just because you're exhausted from the day, but you really don't take to many during the day. We try to fit in a short nap around lunchtime but you usually won't have it. Silly boy!

Rowdy Jay,
You are developing quite the personality! You make the same facial expressions as daddy (very serious) when other people talk to you, but when Mommy or Daddy talk to you, you grin so big!! You love to hear how much we love you, that really gets you to light up! Daddy loves to lay you on his chest now because you lift your head up and look all around! We are so happy and thankful that God chose us to be your mommy and daddy. We love you sweet boy.

Father's Day

How do you say thank you, we appreciate you, and love you dearly, to someone that does so much for your family? Well, I'd suggest saying it more than just one day a year, but Father's Day is your chance to spoil that person! This will be a special Father's Day for my hubby because its his FIRST!! DT is three months in and already a pro! He is so selfless and works so hard to take care of us!
I'm pretty lucky when it comes to the father department.  Have great fathers all around me!
There is Joe, I met him when I was about 4(i think). The first time i went to his house, I hid in his coat cloest and made mouse noises-I guess I was shy back then. Joe had such a huge part in molding and guiding me, and I can say without any doubt that I am the person I am today because of him (and my mom, of course). I am so thankful he was put into my life!

And there is David, I met him when I was in middle school, and since then he has done nothing but show me immense love, and try to make up for some lost years. I haven't always welcomed him with open arms, but we are building our relationship in the right direction now. He is such a down to earth, God loving, hard working, family man, and there is no way anybody wouldn't just love him! I'm also thankful and very grateful that I have him in my life. He is so full of guidance and wisdom, and I truly enjoy our talks. I'm ready for the days where we can all spend more time together!

Greg, Daniel's dad, is the most selfless man I think I've ever met. He would do just about anything for his friends and family and probably for someone he didn't even know! He's such a great Papa to Rowdy!

There's also My uncles, each one of them is a great dad, so I want to wish them a Happy Father's Day as well!

Here are a few ideas of things you could get to show your appreciation to the dad in your life! You could pick a gift that shows him you really listen, that you really understand and support his interests. Or you could have your kiddos make a special treasure. Whichever you choose, make sure you express how much you appreciate him and all he does for you!
First up: a gift basket! Maybe a BBQ basket or a golf basket!
Maybe your guy is a sports freak! This would be right up DT's alley!

Maybe your guy likes to get dressed up and needs a new watch or fancy cuff links!
Something personalized? Search on etsy.com for Father's Day gifts!
This is one of my favorites! Who wouldn't want this on their desk at work?

My hubby would LOVE this:
Hope you got a few good ideas!
I'll leave you with a picture of my favorite daddy and his little boy!

What did I get my hubby for Father's Day??
Well, it was pretty easy because he told me exactly what he wanted- Crossfit workout shoes! These are some fancy smancy shoes! He had to put them in the oven and then they molded to his feet! Whoa, I know!

Birthday Wishlist

Its almost my birthday week, people!! how in the world did it get here so fast?
I thought i'd do a little post on some things I've been eyeing for my birthday!
first up: Vera Bradley mail bag
This isn't just your typical cross body bag- it's big enough to hold diapers, a wipe case, and a bottle, and well, that pretty much makes it amaze-balls in my book! These will run you $78 but what do ya know, the one I want (limes up) is on sale for $58!
Erin Condren gift card from www.erincondren.com:
I always have my planner with me so it needs to be friggin' outta this world cute and personalized right?! Well these customizable Erin Condren planners are just what I'm looking for. It has both a monthly and weekly view, and space to write all your events, there is even a spot at the bottom to keep track of things like meal planning or dirty diapers! You can even get customizable stickers for things like birthdays, dr appointments, faculty meetings, etc! There are lots of different styles to choose from. I, personally, want the collage planner so that I can show off pictures of my sweet little family, but they have monograms and designs too! These will run you about $50. EEK- I know! But that's why it's on my birthday wishlist because I couldn't justify squeezing this into our budget! (Sidenote: you should get one- it's worth the $50 if you're an organized OCD chica like myself!)

Apple TV: love this invention! I have one in my classroom and its so nifty! I want one at home so that I can watch all my shows on the big/real tv! We got rid of cable because we can watch all our favorite shows on the iPad for free so now we just need this little gadget to display them on the big screen!
Pedicure: Nuff said.
Etsy Giftcard: oh etsy, you are addicting. Did you know you can get an etsy gift card from their website and use it in the little etsy shops online?! shut the front door. what a great gift idea for a newlywed, expecting  momma, or me! :)) I'd like some etsy dollars to buy these totes adorable stockings! They even have mini stockings for our ginormous pups! I need those too, don't you think?
Find them here: http://www.etsy.com/listing/112858896/personalized-christmas-stocking-red-and?ref=usr_faveitems
I think I also need a pair of these from etsy
Its no secret, I'd monogram everything if I could. Don't judge.
There you have it. My list of goodies I've been secretly wishing for. Secrets out! Someone tell the hubs! Needless to say, having a nice little dinner and a glass of moscato out on the back deck with my family would be just as wonderful as any of these material things! I'd even cook- That's just how much I love them! But there better be cake!

Hospital Must Haves!

Hospital Musts:
I didn't end up needing much during my very breif stay at the hospital, and neither did DT or Rowdy.
I have some suggestions of a few things you might like to have, and that really made me feel comfortable.
1. New pajamas- you deserve them! I bought a new pair of Vera Wang silky pj's for the hospital. I wore the pants, but not the top (still haven't worn the top because all I wear are the nursing tanks!) I also bought a nursing night gown which was very comfy. (from motherhood maternity)

2. I suggest stocking up on nursing tanks if you'll be nursing. That is the only kind of shirt I wore at the hospital, and pretty much ever since. I wear them under everything. You can find them at Motherhood Maternity or www.motherhoodmaternity.com.

3. Old Navy Maternity yoga pants.
I just wore my yoga pants and a sweatshirt home. Make sure you're comfy- no need to impress the hubby right now, he already thinks you're super woman! These are such a good little investment. You'll wear them during pregnancy, after delivery, and probably even after that!
4. As far as things you might want or need after delivery, I'd say all your techy things and dont forget the chargers

5. FACE WIPES. I like the Olay face cleansing wipes

6. Boppy
7. Lotion and chap stick (I have these with me wherever I go so you bet I had them there!)
8. big ol' granny panties. My mom bought me some and I laughed in her face at the time, but you better believe I was thanking her later.

9. Newborn mittens. Rowdy's nails were like claws on his little face!

10. I used my big suitcase. DT insisted we didnt need the suitcase, and i get it, he didnt want to be 'that guy' wheeling around the huge pink suitcase, but I'm sure he was thankful we had it when he didnt have to make thirteen trips back and forth to the car when it was time to go home.

11. You do not need to bring your diaper bag. I know, it's new, it's adorable, and you've waited MONTHS to use it, but it will serve no purpose at the hospital.
12. snacks. All I brought was chocolate, and that was more for my visitors since I dont eat much chocolate, but I felt like I was STARVING the entire time (hospital food is nasty!) so I ate it all. I'd suggest bringing some nutragrain bars, peanut butter and crackers, or whatever will hold you over!
13. Tucks pads. I didn't end up needing them but you will want them if you have a tear. Speaking of, that little spray bottle they give you to use when you go pee... Use it, take it home and keep using it, trust me.

14. Comfy no slip socks! You don't want to be slippin' and slidin'.
15. Everything you need to help you feel like YOU! Your shampoo and conditioner, face lotion, make up, straightener, deoderant, detangler, leave in conditioner, hair ties, etc.
16. You really don't need much for your new little person. Maybe one sleeper, one outfit for pictures, and a going home outfit.
17. Baby book! I worked on mine a lot while I was at the hospital!
How in the world did I have time to blog all this today, you ask?!
Well, I'm being very quiet while I type, thats how!

Rowdy's Birth Story (finally!)

Here we are, three months later, finally sharing about Rowdy's entrance into this world! It was pretty uneventful labor (until my little man showed up, of course!), thank goodness, right?!
DT took me (dragged me) for a walk on Monday, March 11th (two days past our due date). He kept asking me why I was walking so slow. (We're off like a herd of turtles, he says now.) You can just imagine the look I gave him! I'll go ahead and warn you that this post might be TMI for some, so if you think you might fall under that "some" stop reading right.about.here.
We got home from our walk around two, I had been contractions on and off for the past few days but they were finally getting closer together. I started bleeding (already lost my plug so I knew that wasnt it) and it really worried me so I called my doctor. He said to go in and get checked out, but I REALLY didn't want to be 'that girl' that goes in and has to go home- false alarm kinda thing. So I waited a couple hours. At 630 I ended up going to the birthing center by myself (told DT to go ahead and train his client because I figured they would just check out the bleeding and send me home since my contractions weren't under five minutes.) In our birthing class they told us we would go in through the ER, but I went straight to the birthing center and just talked to one of the nurses (I dont know if thats what I was supposed to do or not..but it worked!) She got me all hooked up and checked out (cervix was nowhere near ready to have this baby), all was good, get dressed you're good to go home they said, and they walked out of the room. I hopped up (as you can imagine a 9 month pregnant girl would hop) and waited for my discharge papers. THEN my doctor showed up, that was a bit alarming. He said he had been looking at the papers that come out of the monitor thing..forgot what those are called, and that Rowdy's heart rate was dropping after each contraction when it was supposed to speed up. He told me to change back into my gown and he checked me again... and what do ya know? PROGRESS! I had finally dialted, weird, I know, considering it had been like 30 minutes since they last checked me. Dr. looked at me and said "Are you ready?" I said uhh.. yeah. But what I was really thinking was uhh.. I thought I was going to go back home. I dont have my stuff (that bag that had been packed for months- I didnt even bring it! Whats wrong with me?!), and my husband (I made him go to work, Im going to have this baby while hes at work and I cant even blame him because I made him go!) Luckily it was a very slow process so he made it (with 8 hours to spare). They took me to a different room (DT got there about this time)- the birthing room, and hooked me back up to the monitors, and gave me an IV. Cue anxiety attack.. There going to poke me with needles, Im about to push a baby out, maybe even have surgery, and become a mom to a BABY! I had to have a little bit of oxygen, but my melt down was breif. It quickly turned into excitement once I got used to the room and everything in it. DT, my mom, and Daniel's mom and dad were there with us.
The nurse broke my water, I was having consistent contractions, and dilated to a four around nine oclock.
The contractions really started hurting after they broke my water, I couldnt talk through them anymore. I wanted to wait on the epidural so I could walk or bounce on the ball if I wanted to. I bounced for a while, went pee once more, and then decided it was time! Got my epidural around 1130, started feeling very woozy, they gave me something new in my iv and some more oxygen, checked again at 115 am and I was at an 8. The nurse did some kind of massaging and within seconds I was at a 10 and ready to start pushing. I pushed for about an hour with the nurse. Dr. finally came in and said Rowdy was stuck on my pubic bone, and asked if he could use forceps to dislodge him. I asked him if it would hurt, and if I could press my epidural button a few more times. He used the forceps to dislodge Rowdy, but not to pull him out. I pushed him right out after that at 4:48 am. He was 7 pounds and 7.5 ounces, and 20 inches long. He was exactly what we prayed for- just as healthy as could be. I couldn't feel the forceps at all, so if you're about to have a baby and are a little concerned- dont be! The nurses took Rowdy for a few seconds to weigh and measure and do the tests, and gave him right back to us. Oh my word, I tear up just thinking about his little eyes looking right into mine as soon as they laid him on my chest.
I fed him and he latched on like a champ. He nursed for about an hour- those Thompson boys can eat! We stayed in the recovery room for a couple hours, just me and my Rowdy Jay (Dt, Mom, Greg, and Anna all went home to shower/sleep, and Dt had to get ready for school!)
Rowdy and I just relaxed, it was so comfortable and perfect, almost indescribable. At about 730 am we went to our recovery room (cue the new baby music the hospital played as we were wheeled to our new room). The nurses told me I had to pee twice before I could get  all unhooked from the iv, so I chugged a bunch of water and went twice in about 30 minutes. I had Rowdy in the nursery for a little while so I could get cleaned up and dressed. Everyone told me to sleep, but there was no way- I was so filled with adrenaline. Friends and family started coming aroud 10am. Im glad they were there to keep me company since DT had a test that morning that he couldnt make up.
I wasnt to sore the first day, but the next day I felt like I had been in a car wreck. I had some good meds that helped with that.
